Katie McCormick Furey AIFD, CFD – Floral Director

It all started with her father’s nursery and flower shop in the Midwest. All of the earliest and fondest memories revolve around the nursery and playing in the dirt by the potted plants, climbing the big hill out back, and riding on the tractor. The flower shop no doubt sparked an early love and passion for flowers and plants. What started out as being daddy’s little girl turned into a passion and love for floral design.

With a further desire to learn, Katie achieved a Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in Horticulture. She was inducted into the American Institute of Floral Designers in 2009 and has been an active member since then. She owned her own event and floral company for 10+ years doing weddings and events prior to becoming a mom and a teacher.

Katie started doing projects with Fiesta Parade Floats in 2009 and has worked for them every year since. Now with over 12 years of experience with floats and 5 years as assistant floral director, Katie is the Floral Director. Katie resides in Fullerton, CA with her husband Patrick and their 4 kids, Madelyn, Cyrus, Declan and Lincoln. She loves being a mom and teacher as well as working with flowers and floats.
