Volunteers on Saturday, Nov. 18, worked on Riverside’s first Rose Parade float since the 1950s and were scheduled to continue their work Sunday. Teams working in four-hour shifts cut decorations and prepped the float — so-called “dry decorating” — at Fiesta Parade Floats in Irwindale. “There’s a lot of interest from Riverside people wanting to help,” said Fiesta Parade Floats President Tim Estes, who has personally overseen the construction of over 500 Rose Parade floats. Riverside’s entry in the Jan. 1, 2018, Rose Parade is a 23-ton tribute to Riverside’s Mission Inn and its Festival of Lights, which has drawn millions of people to Riverside and celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
